The architecture separates the model from persistent control. A state and orchestration layer manages durable memory and transactional changes; a cognitive runtime structures recurring behaviours; specialist capabilities can be added without making any one model the system itself.
The current SKIPPY prototype can connect to Gmail only when explicitly authorized by the user. Its dedicated Gmail adapter requests read-only access so it can search and read messages for user-requested assistant tasks. It does not expose Gmail send, reply, modify, label, trash, delete or draft actions, and the current adapter does not download attachments.
Maiar is pre-seed and currently testing product direction and architecture. The project is at internal prototype stage. Target market and business model validation are part of the next phase; no external customer or revenue traction is claimed at this stage.
Maiar Ltd is a New Zealand company established in 2024. The company previously operated in retail and is now pivoting into software and artificial-intelligence product development. Its first technology development programme focuses on persistent personal AI systems. The current internal working name for the programme is SKIPPY.
